There is a street market somewhere on the Costa del Sol every day of the week. The biggest are Fuengirola on Tuesday and Nueva Andalucía (Puerto Banús) on Saturday. Most run roughly 9am–2pm. Among the areas we know best, La Cala de Mijas has markets on Wednesday and Saturday, Elviria / Marbella East holds an eco market on the 1st and 3rd Saturday, and Fuengirola runs three different markets a week. The full week is in the table below, town by town.
The markets are one of the easiest ways to feel how life is actually lived on the coast. It is where locals do their fresh shopping, sell from their own cupboards, and where a morning quickly turns into lunch. For many of our buyers, a couple of hours at the market in La Cala or Fuengirola is the visit where an area suddenly feels like somewhere you could live rather than just visit.
Below is the full week of regular street markets, from Torremolinos in the east to Sotogrande in the west. We cross-checked the days against several sources (listed at the end), but markets occasionally move for public holidays or weather, so call the local tourist office if you are travelling far.

The Wednesday market in La Cala itself, the Calypso market in Calahonda on Thursday and the large Saturday market in Las Lagunas are among the busiest in Mijas Costa. The eco market in Elviria (1st and 3rd Saturday) draws the people who live in the area year-round. Marbella East — Elviria, Las Chapas, Cabopino — is villa country next to some of the coast’s best beaches. Elviria area guide · Marbella East.
Fuengirola has the coast’s busiest market on Tuesday, a flea market on Saturday and a Sunday market on top. The town and nearby Higuerón combine town life with a train to Málaga and the airport. Fuengirola area guide.
Practical tips for a market morning
- Arrive before noon. After lunch many stalls start packing up, especially in summer.
- Bring cash in small notes. Few stalls take cards, and it makes haggling easier.
- Parking fills fast at the big markets (Fuengirola, Puerto Banús). Come early, or take the train to Fuengirola.
- Summer heat is real from about 1pm. A hat, water and shade make a difference with children.
- Check public holidays. On Spanish holidays a market may move day or stay closed.
