The Feria del Rosario 2026 in Fuengirola runs from Tuesday 6 to Monday 12 October. The town hall has now activated its feria traffic plan and asks residents and visitors to leave the car at home. Wednesday 7 October is a local holiday, Monday 12 a national one, and the casetas close at 04:00 or 06:00 depending on the night.
The programme has been public since late September, and our sister site Guide to Andalucía has the full day by day guide to the concerts, the horses and the procession. This page does a different job. It collects what the town hall has announced in the final days before the opening, and looks at the week from the side of the people who live in Fuengirola, own a home here or are thinking about buying one.
What is new in the last days before the feria?
Five things have been confirmed since the programme came out. None of them changes the dates or the concerts, but each one affects daily life in town.

How late does the Fuengirola feria go, and how loud is it?
Later than most newcomers expect. The mayor’s bando, the notice that sets the rules for the week, fixes two closing times. On the opening night and over the weekend the casetas may stay open until 06:00. On the three nights before a working day they close at 04:00.
| Nights | Music in the casetas stops | Casetas close | Food stalls close |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tue 6, Fri 9, Sat 10 and Sun 11 October | 05:30 | 06:00 | 06:30 |
| Wed 7, Thu 8 and Mon 12 October | 03:30 | 04:00 | 04:30 |
The rides keep the same closing times, but their music and horns must stop at 02:00 every night. Casetas are not allowed to point loudspeakers outdoors, the whole fairground has a ceiling of 75 decibels, and firecrackers and flares are banned. From 17:00 to 18:00 each day the sound is switched off so that people with autism can use the rides in peace.
My reading, as someone who sells homes here: the rules are stricter than the feria’s reputation, and the 06:00 finish on four nights is still the number to remember if you live within earshot of the fairground.
What changes that week if you live in Fuengirola?
Two holidays, to begin with. Wednesday 7 October is the day of the patron, the Virgen del Rosario, and a public holiday in Fuengirola only. Shops and offices in Mijas and Benalmádena open as normal. Monday 12 October is Spain’s national day, so everything is closed everywhere. Banks and public offices are shut on both days, so book any appointment for another date.
On the morning of the 7th the old centre belongs to the procession. Mass starts at 10:00 in Plaza de la Constitución, and the Virgin is then carried along Avenida Condes de San Isidro, Calle Marconi, Calle Palangreros, Calle Larga and Calle España, back to the church by about 14:30. Do not plan to drive through the centre before mid afternoon.
The fairground itself is closed to traffic from 11:00 each day, with deliveries allowed until 12:00. Horses and carriages then have the circuit from 12:00 to 20:00, and from 20:00 the peñas set up their terraces on the pavements.
How do you get to the feria from La Cala de Mijas or Higuerón?
Inside Fuengirola the answer is the bus. Urban Line 1 runs a special night service from 6 to 12 October between the Miramar shopping centre, the fairground and Carvajal, roughly every 40 minutes. The last buses leave the fairground at 04:20 for Miramar and 04:25 for Carvajal, which is the nearest stop to the Higuerón side of town.
From Benalmádena, Torremolinos and Málaga, the C-1 train ends in the centre of Fuengirola, a short walk from the fairground. It does not run through the night, so check the last departure with Renfe Cercanías before a late concert.
From La Cala de Mijas and the rest of Mijas Costa we have found no night bus home. That leaves a taxi, or a driver who stays off the wine. In 2025 the Policía Local ran random traffic checks at the entrances and exits of the fairground, and it is sensible to assume the same this year.
Does the feria matter if you are buying a home in Fuengirola?
Yes, in two ways. The first is good news. Fuengirola’s feria is open in a way that Seville’s is not. The bando forbids the peñas from charging an entrance fee, and Andalucía’s official tourism site counts 32 permanent peña buildings on the fairground. A new resident can walk into any of them on the first night. For many of our Scandinavian and Dutch buyers, that week is when the town stops feeling like a holiday address.
The second is a matter of location. The fairground is not only used in October. In 2026 the town hall suspended the markets there for three events: the Feria Internacional de los Países in late April, the Feria de Los Boliches in July and the Rosario now. Add a market every Tuesday and a flea market every Saturday, and a home beside the Recinto Ferial has a different rhythm from one in Carvajal or Torreblanca at the eastern end of town.
My advice is simple. If a property you like is within a few streets of the fairground, come and stand outside it during feria week before you make an offer. Some buyers love it. Others decide they want the feria a short bus ride away and not as a neighbour. Both are fair answers, and this is the one week of the year when you can find out.
